4th-Dec-2009 06:40 pm - A wishlist meme thing.
Step One:
• Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 unlimited holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
• If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
• Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:
• Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
• If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
• You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Now I lay me down to study,
I pray the Lord I won't go nutty.
If I should fail to learn this junk,
I pray the Lord I will not flunk.
But if I do, don't pitty me at all,
Just lay my bones in the school hall.
Tell the teacher I did my best,
Then pile my books upon my chest.
Now I lay me down to rest,
And pray I'll pass tomorrow's test.
If I should die before I wake,
That's one less test I'll have to take!

So this Saturday past I spent all day outside helping some fellow sci-fi (not and never 'SyFy' or whatever the hell the Sci-Fi channel changed their name to) fans make a Stargate-Doctor Who crossover fan film. As such I received a sunburn on my back, in a semicircle around the base of my neck. I never really paid any attention to it because it wasn't so bad that it hurt, it didn't even sting. I didn't even notice I had it except when I was getting in the shower.

19th-Aug-2009 02:59 pm - SO MUCH AWESOME
Okay, so just a little while ago (three hours or so) my mom called me up on the phone from work. She's on her lunch break (I think, it's not that strange for her to find a minute between helping customers at Kent and check up on us) and needed to ask me if I've heard of a guy named "Darren Hann". I say that the name doesn't ring any clear bells, and ask if I should.

She then tells me that yes, probably, because he made a Star Wars fanfilm. She told me it was Star Wars: Innendeomns, no I didn't mishear that she actually spelled it out for me (I did some research and found out it was supposed to be [STAR WARS: INNER DEMONS] so either my mom's reading skills have gone seriously downhill or this guy has horrible handwriting) and rattled off some other stuff that I didn't really listen to because I was reading Watchmen fanfiction.

But I can tell you this truthfully that my attention was ripped away when she said that he's making another fanfilm, crossing Stargate and Doctor Who. And that, if I was interested, he might be able to get me in as an extra. I've been geeking out all day at even the idea of someone making a movie out of two of my fandoms that I most love reading crossover fanfiction about, let alone the idea that it's being made IN THE PROVINCE I LIVE IN.

And this guy has serious balls, too. He actually went into Kent and asked my mom if she could help him pick out "TARDIS blue". Now she doesn't work in the paint department but it's directly across from Kitchens (where she does work) but my sister and I have watched enough "Doctor Who" and talked about it enough that she'd have an idea of what he's talking about.

I can't wait to see the end product. The "Star Wars" fanfilm that he helped make was really good (imho) and that wasn't even supposed to take place on Earth.

Title: Unexpected Loyalties
Author: LJ=Vonnix / FF.net=Gremblin
Universe: X-Men The Movie
Notes: This is something I started writing months ago to stave off death by boredom while waiting for my mom to get off work and drive me home. I really like the idea behind it and wanted to get some opinions other than my younger sisters.
Beta: Thanks goes out to the awesome [info]larissafae. Before she got hold of this fic I hadn't realized how horrible I am with some forms of punctuation. If you're into Joker fanfiction you should definitely check her out.

Summery: "Mister Toynbee has been giving the x-men information on Magneto for ten years now."

"A lot of the more useless information we know is because of him."

...:::xmen:::...

I should be shot. Seriously. My brain is horrible to me, I swear.

The ideas that I come up with are horrible. Not in the 'turn away or risk throwing up' horrible, but a 'how could you possibly even consider that?!' horrible.

Because seriously... Syndrome (from The Incredibles) with the ability to do Harry Potter-style magic?

25th-Jul-2009 02:49 pm - A Rant About My Email.
Dear People I Don't Know;

I know that I have my email/s attached to all my accounts where my fanfiction is posted. I know this because I remember typing them out. I do this to allow me to keep track of things (reviews/comments/criticisms, updates, etc) on those accounts. In the longshot that I become good friends with one of the other people on that site (for example, [info]larissafae) I have them attached so that they can easily find a way to contact me should they have the need.

I do not have my emails attached for a random person I've never even heard of to use to test out their 'wiked madd skillz' in HTML/BBcode/other. I did not put them out into the internet to allow every Joe off the street to add me just because they:

a) like the way I have my profile/userpage/journal/etc
b) want to be bestest best friends forever because we have so very much in common we would so totally get along great
c) needed an email to make sure that their MSN/YIM was working properly and didn't think that I would mind because I "have so many other friends added, what's one more?"

Yes. I have many contacts via my emails. I'm subscribed to many newsletters. A frankly terrifying number of messages are sent to me from the couple of groups that I'm a member of. That does not give you permission to add to the number of emails crowding my inbox.

Granted, I do add you. So many people that I haven't talked to in years message me randomly after finally finding my email (because I forgot to give it to them after changing it) I don't mind doing that because when it comes to people and names I'll be the first person to tell you that I'm horrible at it. For a large portion of grade 10 many of my friends were called "Uh, you! Beside him! Eating the [insert food item here]!" despite them telling me their names sixty dozen times. For all I know you're someone that I used to know and just can't remember.

But as soon as I realize that I do not know you and have never known you I will press that 'delete + block' connected to you. For all I know you're some creepy 50 year old pedophile breaking his parole. Do. Not. Want.

And before you people that know what I went to CompuCollege for start jumping up and pointing and yelling at me, I do indeed have filters set up on my emails. I simply have them set to very specific things so that actual emails that aren't spam (from both people on and off my friends/contact list) don't go to junkmail hell.

Also, I know that people use their friendslist here on LJ to keep track of other journals that they want to have updates on. I myself do it. But please for the sake of my sanity do not message me unless it's to tell me how the frell I know you. Yes I review dozens of people's stories in a plethora of different fandoms. There's a select few people that I comment on their journals so often it could very well be considered spam. Any of those people are free to message me to their hearts content. However I can be a very paranoid girl. I have had friends say, as a joke, that they're looking in my bedroom window watching me and despite knowing it as a very good fact that there's no possible way for them to be doing so (such as they're on the other side of the continent or across the Atlantic Ocean) I will look out of the nearest window and check. Each and every time. Because I can be extremely paranoid when it comes to things like that.

Ergo don't email me if I don't know you and you don't have a VERY GOOD REASON (such as needing a beta or wish to commission a story from me - to which I will very emphatically laugh at you and then say no because I rarely finish fics). I will not like it and you will not EVER become someone I consider a friend. EVER. Because along with being paranoid I can also be a very vindictive bitch.

Yours if I know you,
Vonnix
